The location of the hotel next to the old canal and close to the town centre was quite convenient. We enjoyed taking walks by the canal and exploring the charming town. the staff were friendly and helpful, providing us with maps and suggestions for parking during the Dickensian Festival. the room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. the breakfast was efficient and filling, with a good selection of dishes. it had a nice atmosphere and was reasonably priced.
The parking situation was a bit challenging, with very few spaces available.

This hotel offers great value for money, with affordable prices and attention to detail. The location by the canal provides outstanding views, and it's conveniently located a few yards from reception in a dedicated corridor. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels. I particularly loved the "wetroom" facility in the bathroom, and the rooms on the second floor provide a peaceful stay. The breakfast was also enjoyable with a good range of options.
No improvements needed, all was spot on.

This hotel exceeded our expectations during our Easter break. We enjoyed the location, which was close enough to the Lake District for day trips, but not too touristy. The parking was ample and free, always a bonus. Our newly decorated room was comfortable and clean, and we appreciated the fantastic aircon in the hot weather. Another plus was the nearby supermarket where we could stock up on breakfast supplies and save some money.
The bar was a little disappointing with limited drink options and a small seating area; however, this was outweighed by the great independent cafes and bars in the charming town centre.
